All volunteers must complete the prerequisites (see Join Us) and our free basic training courses to receive an official identification card and certificate:
- IS-100.c Introduction to Incident Command System, available online and may be offered in a classroom setting periodically.
- IS-700.b National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction, available online and may be offered in a classroom setting periodically.
- Personal Protection and Infection Control, available as a classroom course only. Volunteers who can show successful completion of CERT training may waive this requirement.
Each of these courses can be completed in 3 hours or less. Once this training is completed, the volunteer is qualified to participate in exercises and callouts.
