10/31/07 New online Core Disaster Life Support™ course from AMA

Core Disaster Life Support logoThe AMA Center for Public Health Preparedness and Disaster Response (CPHPDR) invites all interested members of the Medical Reserve Corps. to take the newly released electronic Core Disaster Life Support(tm) (eCDLS(tm)) course. The 4-hour course was developed with funding from the Department of Homeland Security and is offered at no charge. The Course Requirements are as follows: Course Requirements 1. You must complete the entire course to claim a maximum 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM as designated by the American Medical Association 2. A score of 80% on the post-test is required to pass and to print your certificates 3. Please understand that due to limited seating (4,300 users) on our learning management system, by obtaining a username and password you are committing yourself to completing the course. 4. Users must have Windows and Internet Explorer to use eCDLS To access the eCDLS course, visit the following website http://ama.learn.com/ecdls . Please take the following steps to login: 1. After loading the initial page, you must create a new username and password. Click the blue link that says "click here to register now", below the login box. 2. Fill-out all fields of the "Sign-up page" and register your new username and password 3. Access the course by typing in your new username and password in the login box. You will be mailed a course manual, the AMA Responding to Public Health Emergencies virtual library CD-ROM, and the wallet-card. CDLS(tm) is a nationally recognized all-hazards course designed to increase emergency responder awareness of basic skills, competencies, knowledge, and resources that are critical for a coordinated and effective local emergency response effort. Through the DISASTER Paradigm(tm), the course prepares first responders from all disciplines to play an effective role in disaster response. The electronic version, eCDLS, will give first responders the flexibility to access this important training when and where it is convenient for them. The course comprises nine modules, a pre-test, and a post-test. We appreciate your participation in this course, and hope eCDLS will become an integral part in your education on disaster preparedness.
