MRC GEM Program and Training Opportunities

MRC GEM provides free monthly programs of interest to our volunteers, helping them learn to prevent and deal with emergencies affecting themselves, their families, and their communities.

Please click here for the current program schedule.

Sessions are usually held on the third Saturday of each month at the health district building, 2570 Riverside Parkway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046-0897. This is at the corner of Riverside and Raco Place, just south of GA 316. Sessions normally begin at 9 AM and end by noon. Please park in the rear of the building and enter at the door next to the loading dock (front door if accessibility is an issue - either let us know in advance when you will arrive or plan to call the number listed there on arrival). We typically serve light refreshments, such as coffee, water, fruit, and pastry. Click here for a map and to get driving directions.

Anyone is welcome to attend most events. A few, as noted on the schedule, are for members only. To join MRC GEM, you must sign up on the SERVGA system and complete a background check. See Join Us for more information. In order to be a full member who can be participate in an emergency response, the free basic training sequence must be completed.

Volunteers who have completed the free basic training sequence may enhance their skills by taking free intermediate level courses. Those who wish to continue after completing the intermediate training sequence and, perhaps, aspire to a management position may take any of the many free advanced training offerings available to MRC GEM members.
